Radicale Moslims in Jakarta: Wilders moet dood

I will do my best to translate the last paragraph which I found rather funny.

A spokesman of the group, Soleh Mahmud, called the government to sever ties with the Netherlands because of Wilders film Fitna.` the Dutch government must arrest him. Wilders must be killed, because he has declared war with Moslems” says Mahmud who also said that he has not yet seen Fitna.

Funny, no?

Hhm, apa yah peribahasa Indonesia yang cocok sama situasi konyol ini. saya lupa. Air beriak tanda tak dalam kayaknya bisa juga.

Why should we blame entire country for one's mistake, stupid FPI. I remember a friend of mine said, if there is a rat in the rice field, what should we do? Burn the rice field or catch the rat?

Those who have not watched Fitna condemn it severer, they should really watch it, and they would see one tasteless film which should not be worried at all. How ridiculous.

@yuki
I like that rat analogy.. I heard it somewhere before, in a kung fu movie i used to be an avid fan of, as a child..

but yes, they are fussing about nothing. it's a stupid film that obviously does not represent the majority of the Dutch people's opinion about Islam, otherwise the country would have banned Muslims from ever entering..

But this piece in Volkskrant was terribly amusing heheheheh..

It doesn't really matter whether they've seen Fitna or not.

They cannot understand English.

@Therry: it seems like they are illiterate as well. A friend of mine told me that when they protested (violently) against Playboy Indonesia, they haven't even seen the magazine. The irony of it all was that Indonesian Playboy does not contain nudity, it was tamer compared to FHM, Popular and Maxim that has been safely sold and distributed. lol

Yes, I was surprised when I saw Fitna. It seems pretty tame. No frothing Western hate mongering, only the words of Muslims themselves and their holy book overlaid on footage of 9/11 (which was perpetrated by Muslims). The problem is the eliding of racism, homophobia,etc. with religion into this new word Islamophobia which I completely reject. One doesn't choose one's race or sexuality. But one SHOULD be free to choose one's religion. Religion is not biology, it is a symbolic belief system and should not be above comment. A phobia implies an irrational fear (of heights, of blacks, etc.) but religious systems can be argued against and refuted on strictly rational grounds. People don't have the right NOT to be offended for their irrational beliefs. Free speech is absolute. It is actually mainly the religious who are the most 'phobic' and irrational people in this world, increasingly so as their bronze age paganism suffers hammer blow after hammer blow from the world of science.

i couldn't say it better myself. but then again, for them, it is us who are irrational. in indonesian it's 'maju kena, mundur kena'.
